Overview

Polyvine Heavy Duty Floor Varnish is an ultra hard, high quality, water-based polyurethane that dries to a crystal clear film. Formulated for use on interior floors including wood, stone, brick, quarry, tiles, slate and cork. It offers a high level of protection and is ideal for areas of high traffic as it will withstand heavy foot traffic in such areas as gymnasiums, dance floors and public halls. It offers water, stain, heat, chemical and abrasion resistance and cures in as little as 16 hours so is ideal for application in busy environments.

Preparation

Ensure the surface is clean and free from grease, wax and polish.

• Use sugar soap to clean the surface, rinse well with water and allow to dry.
• Wooden floors should be sanded with an industrial sander.
• Newly painted wood should be lightly sanded to provide a key.
• Old, unsound finishes should be completely removed using a suitable .
• A stain sealer may be required on emulsion/latex paint finishes to ensure stains will not be visible.

Application

Always try the varnish on a test patch before embarking on the project to ensure you are happy with the finished results. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions found on the container.

• Apply using a brush, roller or sprayer.
• Porous surfaces should be primed with Heavy Duty Floor Varnish diluted 10% with water.
• If possible apply in the direction of the wood grain.
• Allow to dry for 2 hours between coats.
• Wooden floors may require sanding between coats with a fine sand paper, if there is any raising of the grain.
• Apply 3 coats.
• Allow 16 hours after the final coat before full use.

Tip: For a high level of protection and stain resistance apply 2 coats of satin, then 1 coat of dead flat.

Aftercare & Storage

Protect from extremes of temperature during storage and application. Do not use below 5°C.
