Black Beach
Silver Bay, Minnesota
Black Beach is a small but beautiful beach on the North Shore of Lake Superior near the northern Minnesota town of Silver Bay. It's the only beach of its kind in Minnesota.
The beach is named after the fine black sand that is found along the shoreline. The black sand is a result of small pieces of taconite mixing with natural sand, creating this unique Minnesota destination.
